Hey There!

Christmas is in full swing around here, and I just can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by! I’m always a little in awe of how fast my kiddos seem to be growing, how fast the seasons and years keep whirling by, and how fast life tends to pass over us. Sometimes I get a little bummed when I think about my little girls growing up, but then I think… Nah… why dwell? It’s best to make the best of the time we have now!

The best way I know how to make long lasting memories with my kiddos is with family traditions! I LOVE these sweet moments with my little fam and it makes me feel great to know that these are the things they will remember!

I thought it would be fun to share our Family Christmas Bucket List with Y’all! Some of the things on this list we’ve been doing for years and others will be new! Take a look and if you see something you like, feel free to grab it and make it your own!

Enjoy!

Lights of Tejas! – We LOVE this tradition! We’ve been doing it for a couple of years now, and the girls absolutely love it! If you’re local, it’s about an hour and a 1/2 drive from us in a little town called Giddings! We kinda stumbled upon it by accident one year but we keep coming back because it’s fabulous! It’s a Christian summer camp turned winter wonderland during Christmas time! They have rides, games, over 1 million lights, hay rides, manger building, a theatre, and even a birthday party for Jesus where the kids get to make cupcakes! Such a beautiful place and we all look forward to it every year!

Christmas Travel! – This is a relatively new tradition for us that we started last year! We decided not too long ago that instead of a tree full of toys that the girls don’t need, that we would instead pick a place and travel there! We decided that we would gift them experiences rather than toys and it’s been the best decision we’ve ever made! We still get them 1-2 things that they ask for, but our big gift is a trip! Last year we did New York, and it was fantastic! This year we’re headed to Colorado! We’re all very excited!

Hallmark Christmas Movies! – This was a tradition that was kind of a me thing until recently! The girls are finally old enough to want to watch Hallmark movies! Yay for all the big city girls, coming home for the Holidays, to fall in love with the small town shopkeeper! LOVE IT!

Caroling! – This has been such a fun tradition that my sweet neighbor started a few years ago! Every year she invites the neighbors over to her house, and we all eat and mingle while the kids play! Then we get in a big group and go around the neighborhood and let the kids sing Christmas carols at each house! It’s so much fun, and the kids love it!

Ugly Sweater Party! – This has been a great tradition too! We’re going on year four I believe! My friend and I host this every year at her house and invite all of our girlfriends! We do a wine exchange, play cards against humanity, and drink a tad too much jingle juice! LOL!  So fun! OH! We also give a prize to the ugliest sweater! I never win. The kids say I don’t understand that ugly means ugly not cute! LOL

Make Christmas Cookies! – Ava is the baker in our house, and she does not let us forget to bake cookies! It’s not even December yet, and she’s baked cookies twice!

The Nutcracker Ballet! – Probably my favorite thing to do with my girl and Mother In Law. We try to go every year, and it is always amazing! We make it a girls night with dinner and a then the ballet! The girls love to pick out there outfits for the ballet! We all enjoy it so much!

Listen to Christmas Music! – It’s already playing in the stores and on the radio, but I love to have it playing at home too while we wrap gifts or decorate! I’m a sucker for Jessica Simpsons Christmas album! I know. I know! I’m old. LOL.

Make a Christmas PJ Box! – These are so fun! You can make them for your kiddos as an early gift or make them for someone else! My girls usually exchange them with their cousins, and it’s so cute and fun! We love to add cozy PJ’s, a Christmas movie or book, popcorn, hot chocolate, and maybe one other fun item! It’s all the things your little might need for a cozy night on the couch!

Donate a gift or two! – As my girls get older, we’ve been trying to relay the importance of giving to those less fortunate than us. It’s always wonderful to give to a toy drive, make a meal for a family in need, or volunteer your time where needed! Even something as simple as buying someone a coffee who may not otherwise be able to could make all the difference this Holiday Season!

Ice Skating! – This is always on our list, and we never seem to get around to it! I’m going to try my best to get it done this year because I know the girls will love it! We tried last year in New York but it was unbearably cold, and the lines were super long! We may have to replace this with snow skiing this year while in Colorado, but we’re gonna try to get both in!

Make a Snow Man! – This is something that we don’t typically get to do because it doesn’t often snow if Texas, but this year we’ll be in Colorado for Christmas, so it’s definitely going on the list!

Make Hot Chocolate by the Fire! – OH! this is one of my favorites! We light a fire inside, put on a good movie and make homemade hot chocolate for the girls! Mr. Carr and I may swap our hot chocolate for a nice glass of wine though! 😉

Alright loves! That’s it for now! I hope you found some good Holiday inspo for your own Christmas Bucket list!

Merry Christmas!

xx – Tara
