Coffee with Tara

Hey There! Happy Monday!

I’m excited to start this new series with y’all! I always enjoy getting to know the people I follow online so I thought this would be fun for me to do with you! If you’ve been following along on IG, then you may have seen my stories last week where I asked you guys to ask me anything! It is so helpful for me to know what it is that you guys might want to see and hear about! I mean, I can keep coming up with lots of different things but if there’s something that you really want to know… just ask! And I’ll always do my best to answer it for ya!

OK! So this will be short and sweet! Just grab a cup of coffee and lets chat!

I’ll just put the questions below, and my answers will be right below that! Here we go!

Number 1:

How old are both of your girls?

My oldest, Rylee, just turned 10 in September and my youngest, Ava, is 8! Rylee is a full-time competitive gymnast, so she keeps me busy because I homeschool her! Never in my life did I think I would be a home-school mama but it was our only choice if we wanted to let her train at an elite level with her sport! She’ s such an amazing gymnast so we’ve done everything we can to set her up for the best possible future in gymnastics! Ava is my little firecracker! She loves softball and her mama, and has an imagination like I’ve never seen! I swear this girl is gonna write fiction novels one day! She has the kindest heart and is the most loving and nurturing little girl! We LOVE them to pieces… obviously! 🙂

Number 2:

How do you style your hair?

I get this question so much! And I wish I had some groundbreaking tips for you, but the truth is that most days I let it air dry and on the other day’s dry shampoo is my BFF! LOL. I like a beachy wavy kinda look, so I do use a wand to style it! My fave wand is the Ondule by L’ange! I like the 1″ barrel for ived-in looser looking curls! My other tip is that you have to use excellent products! I am in LOVE with the Living Proof line! I’ve been using it for about a year, and my hair has completely changed! It used to be really dry and flat, and now, even when I just let it air dry, I have tons of volume! I use the restore shampoo and conditioner and love it! I also can not live without their flexible hairspray and volume builder!

As for styling it, I’m a busy mom on the go, so taking longer than 15 minutes on my hair is just not gonna happen! My biggest tip for quick styling with a wand is to part your hair in two sections at the base of your neck. Leave one section behind your back and pull the one you are ready to style over one shoulder. From there grab about one to two-inch sections from the back of your parted section and wand the pieces away from your face leaving about two inches out of the wand at the end. Make sure you point your wand down while you are holding it! Hold for about 30 to 40 seconds then gently pull the wand out leaving your curl tight to cool! Spray with flex spray immediately before moving on to the next piece! Once all pieces are curled you want to brush through with your fingers to get that lived in look! Add some hairspray to the roots for volume and voila! I know it’s hard to picture just from me typing it!! If you guys want to see a quick tutorial on my IG let me know! It’s really SOOO easy! Promise!

Number 3

Do You Have any Trips Planned for The rest of the year?

I do! So many actually! Some for work and some for family time! Let see… Ok, I have a blogger retreat coming up in Rockport in November! I’m so excited about this! I’m hosting an event at an amazingly beautiful home on the water, with several other blogger/influencers! We’ll be hanging out, networking, and learning from each other on how to grow our online businesses! So fun! And! You have to check out this amazing house we’re staying in! If you live in South Texas and are looking for a home big enough for a family event or friends getaway this place is AMAZING!

Then I’m headed to Miami for the Create and Cultivate conference! Legit cannot wait for this! So excited to get to go to this event! I think that’s all for work for the rest of the year and then it’s family travel and holiday time! We’ll be in the Bahamas in early December then off to Colorado for our family Christmas! I’m literally going from bikini to snowsuit within like two weeks y’all! Should be fun! :))

Number 4

How Do You Stay Motivated to Workout Everday?

OHH… this is a tough one! The short answer is it’s a habit. The long answer is I’m not motivated every day. Almost every single day I come up with a million excuses why I should skip my workout. There’s work, the kids, my warm bed, my husband who I haven’t seen, or I just plain don’t feel like it. The excuses don’t go away; they’re always there, I just have learned to do it anyway. And. I’ll be honest; there are days when the excuses win. I’m not perfect. I just try my best to make sure that there are more days that the excuses don’t win then there are days that they do. Having a routine is really helpful. The less brain power I have to give to decide to work out the better. For instance, If I stick to my habit of getting up, getting the kids ready, getting the kids to school and gym, then go workout… it all happens like clockwork. Almost if I don’t have a choice in the matter. Not having a routine can really make it hard to stick to something that you want to stick to. If given an opportunity you’re gonna choose something comfortable every time. I guess for me; I just know that 1. I have to get it in early or it won’t happen. 2. I have to make sure I’m doing something I enjoy, or I won’t make time for it, and 3. I’ve committed to moving every day. Some days that looks like an hour in the gym lifting weights, some days it’s a quick yoga class, and others it’s a walk around the block with my fam! As long as I’ve moved my body I’m happy with that!

Alright, guys! That’s it for our coffee chat today! I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little better and if there’s anything else you want to know just drop a comment here or always feel free to shoot me a DM!
